History
ILCM was originally founded in 1976 as a program of Southern Minnesota Regional
Legal Services (SMRLS). In 1996, new congressional restrictions on the kinds of
legal work federally-funded legal services programs could do forced the Immigrant
Law Center to separate from SMRLS. ILCM received its 501(c)(3) designation in
1996, and over the last ten plus years, ILCM has established itself as one of
Minnesotas premier providers of low-cost, comprehensive immigration legal
services.
